About This Tool
Description
The Application Torch (also known as a Roofing Torch or Propane Torch) is a professional hand-held, propane-fuelled tool used to heat and bond modified bitumen waterproofing membranes to roof surfaces. It delivers a high-intensity, controlled flame through a wide burner head, melting the underside of the membrane so it fuses seamlessly to the substrate — creating a watertight, durable bond without the need for adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
Designed for single-handed operation, the long neck tube keeps the operator safely distanced from the flame while maintaining full control over heat application during membrane installation.
What It Does
Key Features
- High-output propane burner capable of reaching temperatures of 2,000°F — sufficient to fully melt and bond modified bitumen membranes in a single pass
- Long neck tube (20"+ ) keeps the operator at a safe working distance from the open flame during membrane application
- Wide burner head delivers a broad, even flame across the membrane surface for consistent, uniform heat distribution
- Trigger-operated valve with adjustable gas flow control — allows precise regulation of flame intensity for different membrane types and ambient temperatures
- Brass body construction — lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and built to withstand continuous on-site use
- Compatible with standard propane LP tanks via a flexible hose and POL connector — quick to set up and easy to transport
- Suited for both full-surface torch application and detail work around flashings, penetrations, and edges
