About This Tool
Description
The Rover Backer Rod Installer is a walk-behind machine that dramatically speeds up the installation of polyethylene foam backer rod in horizontal saw-cut and expansion joints. A single operator pushes the Rover forward and it continuously feeds and seats backer rod directly from a mounted spool — at a precise, consistent depth — covering large floor areas in a fraction of the time compared to manual hand insertion.
Built for heavy-duty site use with an all-steel frame, it is the go-to machine for airports, warehouses, highways, and large-scale concrete floor projects where hundreds of linear metres of joint need to be filled efficiently.
🏭
Warehouses & Industrial Floors
Covers large expanses of concrete floor expansion joints rapidly — ideal for warehouses, factories, and distribution centres with extensive saw-cut joint layouts.
✈️
Airports & Runways
The machine of choice for airport aprons, taxiways, and runways where hundreds of linear metres of joint need backer rod installed before sealant application.
🛣️
Highways & Roads
Used on concrete highway and road surfaces to efficiently seat rod in saw-cut transverse and longitudinal pavement joints ahead of sealant application.
🏗️
Concrete Slab Joints
Suited for construction and expansion joints in large concrete slabs — including multi-storey car parks, retail floors, and commercial building bases.
🏢
Commercial & Civil Projects
Any large-scale civil or commercial project with long runs of horizontal joint benefits from the speed and consistency the Rover delivers over manual methods.
⚙️
Pre-Sealant Joint Preparation
Used as the first step in the joint sealing workflow — the Rover sets the rod, then the sausage gun and leveling knife complete the sealing and finishing process.
