Joint Prep & Support
Description
The Aluma-Backer Poly-Rope is a flexible, closed-cell polyethylene foam backup material used to fill expansion and construction joints before the application of sealants. Its primary purpose is to control the depth of the sealant, ensuring the ideal "hour-glass" shape for maximum joint movement.
By acting as a bond-breaker, it prevents the sealant from adhering to the bottom of the joint, allowing it to stretch and compress freely. Available in a full range of diameters from 8mm to 100mm, it provides a firm backing for easy sealant tooling.

Key Features
- Closed-Cell Structure — Does not absorb water or moisture, preventing air-bubbles in the sealant.
- Comprehensive Range — Available in diameters starting from 8mm up to 100mm to fit any joint width.
- Highly Compressible — Easily pushes into irregular gaps while maintaining structural support for tooling.
- Chemical Neutrality — Compatible with all cold-applied sealants, including PU, silicone, and acrylic.
- Bond-Breaker Function — Prevents three-sided adhesion, which is the primary cause of sealant failure.
- Lightweight & Pliable — Supplied in long rope formats for fast and continuous installation.
